Las Vegas Teens Charged with Second-Degree Murder in Alleged Killing of Classmate, 17, Over Stolen Headphones

Jonathan Lewis, 17, was killed by a mob outside Rancho High School in Las Vegas roughly two weeks ago.

Dontral Beaver, 16, Gianni Robinson, 17, Damien Hernandez, 17, and Treavion Randolph, 16, are all being tried as adults and appeared before a judge in Clark County District Court on Tuesday, when the accusations were read out.

The four youths are also charged with criminal conspiracy to commit violence with serious bodily harm, according to District Attorney Steve Wolfson.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the accused assailants were subsequently sent back to the juvenile detention center, where they are being detained without bond.

Four other teenagers were also detained in connection with Lewis’ death on November 7, which was recorded on film and has since gone viral.

The other four pupils, all of whom are under the age of 16, will continue in the juvenile court system.

On Nov. 1, Lewis was savagely attacked outside Rancho High School after a fight with an unknown student over a pair of wireless headphones and maybe a vape pen.

The things were reportedly taken from Lewis or one of his buddies, according to Las Vegas Homicide Lt. Jason Johansson at a news conference last week.

Lewis’ family originally stated that the 17-year-old was protecting a buddy who was being tormented by his peers.

Lewis died six days later in a hospital from blunt-force injuries.

At least ten individuals were recognized in the footage by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and the FBI.

Authorities are still looking for two more teenagers and have sought the public’s aid in identifying them by releasing photos from the video.

Wolfson revealed on Tuesday that another adolescent had been detained in connection with the incident, but provided no other details.

The four teenagers who appeared in court on Tuesday face second-degree murder charges since there was no evidence of premeditation prior to the attack, according to the prosecution.

“I reviewed all of the evidence yesterday with my colleagues and with Metropolitan Police Department detectives, and we didn’t feel that there was that advanced premeditation,” Wolfson said in a statement.

The teenagers are due back in court on December 14.

Jonathan Lewis Sr., the victim’s father, earlier stated that his son died protecting one of his friends.

“I just love my children with all my heart, and it’s unimaginable that we could ever come to this point,” Lewis’ father previously told 8 News Now.

Wolfson said after the hearing on Tuesday that it was a “sad” day for all of the families involved.

“That family was shattered, and all the other families and their lives have been shattered as well,” he went on to say. “But at the end of the day, I believe there has to be consequences.”

Vegas Teen Brutally Beaten to Death by Mob of 15 Bullies Outside High School, Heroically Standing up for Smaller Friend

According to the student’s devastated father, a Las Vegas youngster died after being pummeled by a bunch of bullies for defending a “smaller” classmate who was tossed into a garbage can.

Jonathan Lewis, a 17-year-old Rancho High School student, died last Tuesday, less than two weeks after being severely assaulted by a mob of 15 youngsters, according to his father, also named Jonathan Lewis, who confirmed the death to 8 News Now on Thursday.

“One of his smaller friends had something stolen by this group of 15, and they threw the small boy in the trash can, and our son confronted them, and he was attacked,” his family said on a GoFundMe page.

Alarming video from the Nov. 1 incident, which occurred only blocks from Lewis’ high school, shows the boy engaging one of the suspected bullies before punching him.

A horde of angry adolescents surrounded Lewis seconds later and began violently beating and kicking the outnumbered boy.

A second, longer video of Lewis’ brutal beating shows one of his pals racing to his aid as the vicious bullies crowd around him.

The unidentified companion is seen furiously attempting to peel away the 15 assailants before being struck in the back of the head, causing him to flee the pandemonium for his own safety.

Some of the bullies who attacked Lewis are then seen pursuing him down and hitting him in the head until he collapses.

Before the video fades off, up to five of the bullies can be seen around Lewis’ companion as he attempts to get back up, unleashing a volley of violent kicks and punches.

Lewis’ fiancée allegedly issued a statement expressing her boyfriend’s support for his smaller pal, according to the family.

“He’s a courageous young man,” his family said on their fundraising website.

Jonathan was found bleeding from the head by police officials after the incident.

Before taking Lewis to the hospital, paramedics performed chest compressions on him.

The kid was placed on life support at the University Medical Center and died last Tuesday.

The father, Lewis, revealed that he kept his son on life support for several days, hoping he might awaken.

“I just love my children with all my heart, and it’s unimaginable that we could ever come to this point,” Lewis’ father told 8 News Now.

Lewis’ father, who resides in Texas, claimed his son remained to himself most of the time and had intended to go to Austin to live with him before the horrific attack.

The parent hopes that the event will spark a discussion about juvenile violence in the community.

“Violence just begets more violence and these children don’t even know what they’re doing half the time,” he added.

The father also stated that detectives informed the family that they wanted to prosecute numerous pupils for murder in Jonathan’s death.

According to the publication, the Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s homicide section is investigating the event, but no arrests have been made thus far.

“I hope there’s a way that they can find forgiveness in their hearts and find a way to be able to come to terms with what they’ve done,” he was quoted as saying.
