The guy is fatally thrown to the concrete while clinging to the criminals’ getaway car in the terrifying clip.
According to the Video Post
According to a distressing New York Post video, a man who tried to stop burglars from stealing his car was violently slain on Wednesday after jumping on the hood of the suspects’ getaway BMW and being thrown onto the concrete. Police said 43-year-old Mauro Chimbay was playing volleyball in Queens Park when he heard his Toyota Highlander SUV alarm go off and saw a robber smash a rear passenger window and grab a box.
The terrifying CCTV film shows Chimbay and a big group sprinting from Gorman Park in East Elmhurst to stop the car thief, who then jumps into a white BMW driven by another suspect. As the SUV alarm sounds and the mob gathers around the BMW, Chimbay hops on the hood and the driver accelerates. Chimbay clings to the BMW hood as it races away, but blurry footage shows him tumbling. The mob cries as the vehicle flees northward on 85th Street. The NYPD reported that Chimbay died from head trauma after being thrown from the car.
Witnesses told CBS that Chimbay hit a black SUV after being thrown from the BMW. “There was a big SUV and he just crashed into it,” CBS eyewitness Wilson Acosta said. “He held the door to get what they stole from him. He hit the car and flipped.” Chimbay’s SUV box was stolen, but its contents are unknown. Meanwhile, Chimbay’s relatives demanded the thieves’ arrest. Police told Fox News Digital the investigation is ongoing and no one has been arrested.
