According to an article published in The U.S. Sun, those who qualified in the STAR program can enjoy one of the following benefits below:
- STAR rating, the tax department will provide your STAR benefit via cheque or direct deposit if you are registered for the STAR credit. Your school taxes can be paid using your STAR benefit. If you own your house, use it as your principal residence, and your combined income with your spouse’s is $500,000 or less, you are eligible for the STAR credit.
- STAR exemption is a lower amount due for school taxes. You are eligible to keep getting the STAR exemption for the same principal residence if you have been receiving it since 2015. Your school tax bill will be lowered by the amount of your STAR exemption as long as you are still eligible.
