US President Joe Biden $80M Grant to Taiwan for the American Military Equipment
According to BBC, when US President Joe Biden signed off a $80 Million grant to Taiwan for the purchase of American military equipment, China stated that it opposed and deplored what Washington had done.
True enough, the American military equipment costs were less than the cost of a single modern fighter jet. However, Taiwan has already made an order more than $14bn worth of American military equipment.
US President Joe Biden Sends American Military Equipment from American Taxpayers
According to BBC, the $80m for American military equipment was not a loan, rather it came from American taxpayers.
For 40 years, America has been using its own money to send weapons to places it officially doesn’t recognize. The funds were under the program called FMF or Foreign Military Finance.
Since the invasion of Russia into Ukraine last year, it sent around $4bn American military equipment to Kyiv. Additionally, it also started funding Israel against its ongoing conflict with Hamas.
President Joe Biden says that the $80M for purchasing American military equipment was only the tip of the iceberg.
