The federal government approved the Georgia Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Division of Family & Children Services to replace the stolen SNAP benefits.
Stolen SNAP Benefits in Georgia
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits is a federal program and is implemented by the different states. However, there are reports of victims of card skimming, card cloning, and other similar fraud that led to stolen SNAP benefits.
In a published article in Daily Citizen, the Georgia Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Division of Family & Children Services announced that the federal government had approved replacing the stolen benefits.
Georgians who believe that their SNAP benefits were stolen from Oct. 1, 2022 and Oct. 18, 2023 have until Nov. 18, 2023 to request replacements for stolen benefits.

DHS Commissioner Released a Statement
According to an article published on the official website of the Georgia Department of Human Services, DHS Comissioner Candice Broce said, “Our team worked quickly to develop and implement a SNAP benefit replacement process to provide much needed relief to Georgians who have been defrauded by bad actors.”
He also added, “As we begin to receive and review benefit replacement requests, we will continue to educate our clients on best practices to protect their SNAP benefits, such as shielding the PIN pad, changing their PIN numbers frequently and checking their EBT accounts regularly.”
