In some Midwest states, Halloween trick-or-treaters will consume snow and candy.
Freeze Advisory to All Trick-or-treaters
The National Weather Service predicted snow showers from the Upper Midwest to the Great Lakes through Halloween, Tuesday. The meteorological agency issued freeze advisories for 64 million people from southwestern Arizona to New York late Monday. With temperatures as low as 28 degrees, Atlanta was under a freeze advisory until 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Cleveland weather office joked that “A frightful end for October is expected across the region,” and that rain will shift to snow on Tuesday. The Chicago morning commute is expected to see “waves of snow,” with around 1 inch of accumulation. The following two nights will be the coldest of the fall in Baltimore and D.C.
The cold blast will bring chillier weather to the Northeast and mid-Atlantic, where weekend temperatures reached 70s and 80s. Washington, D.C., and Raleigh, North Carolina, will plummet 20 F in 24 hours from Monday to Tuesday. On Monday evening, another fast-moving “clipper” system from Canada may deliver snow showers and lake-effect snow to the Great Lakes. National Weather Service: Additional snow showers are anticipated as the cyclone enters the Upper Midwest on Tuesday. Hurricane season continues as the National Hurricane Centre monitors two Caribbean and Atlantic disturbances for development next week. The first is east of the Bahamas and unlikely to develop, while the second will likely form a tropical depression toward Central America later this week.
