On Tuesday, a Cornell University student was arrested and charged with posting anti-Semitic threats against the Jewish community of Ivy League school.

Cornell University vowed to keep heightened security on campus due to anti-Semitic threats

Patrick Dai, 21 years old, a junior at Cornell University appeared in federal court on Wednesday in New York state federal criminal complaint charging him with Anti-Semitic Threats by posting threats to kill or wound another using regional communications.

According to the criminal complaint, Patrick Dai is accused of posting Anti-Semitic threatening messages on a Cornell University online discussion site. Dai allegedly called for the deaths of Jewish people and in one post, he said he was going to kill up 104 West, which is a university dining hall that provides Kosher diets and is located next to the Cornell Jewish Center in New York.

The criminal complaint also alleges that Patrick Dai threatened Anti-Semitic by bringing an assault rifle to campus and stabbing and raping Jewish students.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul confirmed on Tuesday that Patrick Dai was in the custody of New York State Police for Anti-Semitic Threats he did

If found guilty of the charge, Dai could face up to five years in prison along with a fine of up to $250,000 for Anti-Semitic Threats.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said Public safety is her top priority and she is committed to fighting hate and bias wherever it sterns its ugly head.
