A US Navy guided-missile destroyer, USS Carney, was shot down by multiple missiles and drones that Iranians launched that were said to be potentially headed toward Israel.
USS Carney Shoots Down Cruise Missiles and Drones Potentially Headed to Israel
According to VOA, the USS Carney, a known Navy destroyer in the Red Sea, has shot down multiple missiles and drones launched by Iran. The Pentagon stated that the missiles were potentially headed toward Israel.
It is stated by the press secretary of the Pentagon that this was the first-time the USS Carney engaged missiles and drones that were not directly aimed at the vessel.
Further, this was also the first-time the USS Carney took action to defend Israel in the current crisis with the U.S. and the other countries trying to contain the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

USS Carney Alleged Not the Target of Missiles and Drones
According to ABC, the missiles and drones that the Iranians launched were assessed by the U.S., which stated that the USS Carney was not the target.
However, it is also not certain what the missiles and drones were targeting as it was heading north along the Red Sea. Thus, it was allegedly launched to target Israel.
