Colorado Springs Police arrested a man on drug dealing and possession charges Wednesday morning after a foot chase in the Dorchester Park neighborhood south of downtown Colorado Springs.
Suspected Drug Dealer Chased and Arrested
The Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) was issuing fines and contacting people with warrants in Dorchester Park when they discovered a suspected drug dealer selling drugs near the park’s southwest corner and the Tejon Street Bridge. Officers reported they noticed the man and a probable narcotics sale in progress as soon as they arrived, and the foot chase began. Jason Corbett, 41, jogged along the greenway before crossing under the Tejon Street Bridge and continuing south on Tejon. Officers from the HOT, patrol officers, and a motor unit patrolled the area and apprehended the offender without incident.
During the chase of the suspected drug dealer, Corbett allegedly dropped a small backpack containing a variety of narcotics, including “Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Shrooms, and Heroin totaling approximately 44.95 grams.” They also found about $3,100 in cash in the backpack. Corbett previously pled guilty to distribution crimes in 2013 and 2019, according to online court records. Corbett was arrested on suspicion of Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstruction, and an outstanding felony warrant for a previous Distribution of a Controlled Substance offense. He looked to be still in custody at the El Paso County jail as of the last update to this report.
