A Russian pilot, Gavr, has defected at the US Embassy in the United Arab Emirates while on holiday with his family.

According to an article by Ian Molyneaux, unconfirmed reports said that Russian pilot Gavrichenko, known as Gavr, was on holiday in Dubai with his family in September 2023 when he surrendered to officials at the US Embassy in the United Arab Emirates. According to the Telegraph Channel Spy Dossier, the Russian pilot Gavr entered the building stating- that he refused to fight and expressed his willingness to cooperate.
Currently, it is unclear whether Gavrichenko, who allegedly holds the nickname ‘Le Havre’, planned the holiday in Dubai hoping to defect or made the decision on impulse while he was there. Spy Dossier suggested that Russian pilot Gavr has been encouraged to defect by a friend and former colleague who now lives in the United States. The Federal Security Service or FSB is already investigating the incident.
Russian pilot Gavr’s colleagues are allegedly being questioned. Also, their personal belongings like mobile phones are being searched. Last August 2023, a Russian pilot, Maxim Kuzminov, landed in Ukraine after contacting the Ukrainian military intelligence service or GUR about his wish to defect. The Russian pilot’s family was evacuated from Russian territory by the GUR.
