The spouse of a Bronx, New York, daycare owner has been arrested in Sinaloa, Mexico, in connection with the death of a 1-year-old kid at the facility earlier this month who was possibly exposed to fentanyl.
According to the New York City police, a day care centre in the Bronx, New York, had a trapdoor installed in the floor of the center’s play area. The trapdoor held fentanyl and other opioids, as well as drug paraphernalia. (Source: Fox news)
Arrested due to Narcotics Distribution
Multiple law enforcement sources, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the New York City Police Department, confirmed to Fox News that the Bronx daycare owner’s husband, Felix Herrera Garcia, was arrested in Sinaloa, the headquarters of Mexico’s Sinaloa drug trafficking cartel, which was once led by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán. Garcia is the husband of Grei Mendez De Ventura, who was arrested with her neighbor, Carlisto Acevedo Brito, on September 16. Ventura and Brito were both charged in federal court with conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death and narcotics distribution resulting in death, both of which carry life terms.
Garcia is the fourth individual arrested in connection with the death of Nicholas Dominici, 1, and the injuries of two 2-year-old boys and an 8-month-old girl who were discovered motionless in the Bronx daycare facility’s basement. The Department of Justice unveiled a criminal complaint on Monday charging Renny Antonio Parra Paredes, 38, popularly known as “El Gallo,” with conspiracy to sell narcotics resulting in death.
There has been no confirmation linking Garcia to the Sinaloa Cartel. The DEA designated the Sinaloa Cartel as “the world’s largest, most violent, and most prolific fentanyl trafficking operation” in April, naming “Los Chapitos,” Ivan Archivaldo, Jesus Alfredo, Joaquin, and Ovidio Guzman, all sons of El Chapo Guzman. Although “Los Chapitos” have denied being Sinaloa Cartel leaders and being involved in fentanyl distribution, evidence suggests otherwise.
Mexican authorities claim to have seized over 600 fentanyl labs in Sinaloa, implicating the Guzman family. The inquiry into the fatal overdose is still underway.
