The Expulsion Of Two Diplomats In Russia Been Slammed
According to the article by Servet Gunerigok, the US State Department has criticized the expulsion of two diplomats in Russia on Thursday. The spokesman, Matthew Miller, told the reporters that this unprovoked expulsion of our diplomatic personnel is wholly without merit. He added that they regretted that Russia has taken this path and certainly expect that they will respond appropriately to their actions.
Matthew Miller said Russia has once again chosen “confrontation and escalation over constructive diplomatic engagement.” He added that Washington will take action.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said it summoned Ambassador Lynne Trace, instructing her that the embassy’s First Sec. Jeffrey Sillin and Second Sec. David Bernstein must leave the country within 7 days. The two were accused of having conducted illegal activities by liaising with a Russian citizen, Robert Shonov. Robert Shonov admitted that Sillin and Bernstein asked him to collect information about Russia’s war effort in Ukraine. Russia is expecting Washington to take the right conclusions and refrain from confrontational steps.
