US Navy Veteran Formed Unexpected Friend With Iranian Political Activist
A US Navy veteran, Michael White, struck up a friendship with an Iranian political activist who spoke with him while he was jailed on espionage charges, according to NYPost. The US Navy veteran and his newfound friend shared an interest in politics and human rights, and because of that, they developed a bond.
When the Iranian political activist, Mahdi Vatankhah, was released from prison. Vatankhah helped the US Navy veteran, by delivering his letters to the US Navy veteran’s mother while he was still locked up.

US Navy Veteran’s Assistance Helps Vatankhah Come to the United States
According to AP News, the US Navy veteran had formed a friendship with a political activist in 2018 when he was in an Iranian jail and had finally helped his friend back.
According to the US Navy veteran, Vatankhah risked his life to deliver information to his mother and he really felt grateful for it. Thus, with a grateful heart, he asked permission for Vatankhah to live temporarily in the US under a government program known as humanitarian parole.
The political activist was thankful and happy about it and says it was the best moment of his life after he landed in the US.
The US Navy veteran and the political activist have finally reunited after 5 years.
