The crime rate has constantly increased by at least 2% per year. In 2022, 13,053 crimes were reported, including murder, rape, assault, burglary, and auto theft. Property crime accounted for 11,159 of these, with violent crimes accounting for 1,894. This happened in a town of 9,640 people.
One of the worst neighborhoods in Miami is Opa-Locka since crime is a major concern. The area recorded a total of 8,096 offenses in 2022, including both violent and property crimes. There were 1,957 violent crimes and 6,139 property crimes, according to FBI records.
Despite its tourist attractiveness, Downtown Miami has a high crime rate which is the reason why it is one of the worst neighborhoods in Miami. It is 308% more than the national average and has one of the highest rates of violent crime rate .
In 2022, there were 7,758 reported crimes, including both violent and property crimes, in a population of 30,065. There were 1,109 violent crimes and 6,649 property offenses.

Miami is not unsafe, particularly if you stick in the downtown and tourist neighborhoods. After all, Miami is a major holiday and tourist destination, and many celebrities live there, so the local police have made certain that the city is secure. Many areas of the city, however, are less than desirable.

Miami as a whole is not a hazardous city, and some of these districts offer popular tourist attractions. However, knowing where you are and applying common sense should help you avoid becoming a victim of a crime.
