SOURCE–  A Crown Point man faces charges related to the January 6 attack on the US Capitol after investigators said that he pushed and fought against police officers among the crush of people on the federal grounds that day.

The US Department of Justice announced on Friday that the Crown Point man faces charges related to the attack. A Crown Point man, Gregory Mijares, was seen on the video footage entering the Capitol grounds donning a gas mask, and he made his way to the Lower West Terrace while pursuing retreating police officers.

Capitol video footage showed that Gregory Mijares was one of the first rioters pursuing police officers into the tunnel. He entered the archway around 2:41 p.m. and approached a set of glass doors. Mijares pulled open the broken glass door, ushering other rioters in. At that point, police officers tried to push Mijares back with a riot shield. Mijares joined other rioters pushing against the line of police before making his way to the tunnel entrance and left at about 3:19 p.m., records state. He was arrested earlier Friday and made his first court appearance regarding the charges.
