BOOM OR BUST — The Biden administration appears to be a bust for the book industry, as even big-name journalists’ books on the president have failed to create a splash, with many failing to sell even 5,000 copies.

The reason whether Biden’s books are a boom or bust is that the president’s lack of drama isn’t helping. The administration runs a tight ship, and its “no leak” policy, along with the desire for normalcy, hasn’t left many juicy facts for a riveting read. And Joe Biden doesn’t exactly excite typically Democratic voting blocs – according to a recent New York Times/Siena College survey, his support within the party is eroding, particularly among Black and Hispanic voters.

In the recent article by Politico, in terms of whether Biden’s books are a boom or bust, according to POLITICO’s Daniel Lippman, Biden books aren’t even worth a hate read among conservatives who already feel the president is senile. It’s a stark contrast to the Trump era, when books detailing instability and disorganization, let alone Donald Trump’s behavior, flew off the shelves.

Catherine Kim’s question about whether the books are boom or bust, in which if the book industry insiders/publishers surprised by the poor sales of Biden books, Lipmann responded that the book industry experts he spoke with are not astonished that Joe Biden is not selling them a boatload of books and providing them with the money they require for second homes in the Hamptons. They are, however, disappointed because they had grown accustomed to the Trump administration and all of its wild turns providing great material for books, both pro-Trump and anti-Trump books, because people on both sides of the aisle were eager to learn every detail about his administration.

In regards whether Biden’s books are boom or bust, a question if it just a general lack of interest in political novels these days, Lippman stated that it is also worth noting that there aren’t a lot of conservative novels critical of Biden that are doing well. Conservatives appear to be obtaining their anti-Biden news from X or conservative media outlets rather than from books.

According to Politico, whether Biden’s books are boom or bust, the question about what has the White House done in response to the seeming lack of interest in the administration, Lippman said according to the folks he have spoken with surrounding Biden, it’s not their duty to supply fodder for books. That they are attempting to restore rigor to policymaking and implement their agenda. Of course, they want to influence how history remembers them. As a result, if Bob Woodward writes a book about Biden, they will almost certainly participate. However, there is a strong culture of not leaking in the White House and administration.

The elements to determine whether Biden’s books are a boom or bust and what actually drives sales according to Lippman is that a brand-name journalist, such as Franklin Foer, who wrote the just released “The Last Politician” on Biden and has written a lot of successful books before, would be one of the keys to good book sales for a political or Biden book. And do you have what it takes? Because people read a lot of this stuff as part of their daily news consumption. Of course, you’ll need a well-written book. And provide completely new details on each page, or you’ll be wasting your reader’s time.
