Two Suspects In Robberies
Source– A former state prisoner, Frenel Romain, a 32-year-old, was transferred to Indian River County Jail on Thursday. He faces charges related to the Fellsmere bait shop hold up happened in February 2012. He was being held on $1,530,000 bail, records show. Frenel Romain was accused of being with an accomplice, Jurvis Spells.- both armed with handguns when they robbed two customers and a clerk at the bait and tackle shop at 9 S. Mulberry St. in Fellsmere.
Frenel Romain was charged also with robbing a Vero Beach man at gunpoint who was just sitting inside a vehicle parked on Wibur Avenue. In both cases, he has faced 3 counts of robbery and 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Jurvis Spells was not currently charged in Indian River County and was sentenced to 16 years in prison related to convictions in 5 armed robberies that happened in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Spells was scheduled to be released from prison in 2028.
Circuit Judge Janet Croom’s order rejected Romain’s claims that a statute of limitations had expired to felony charges listed 2 arrest warrants issued in 2012.
