On the coast of North Carolina, Richard Byrne is trying to make a pretty good real estate transaction. The seasoned telecommunications and wireless executive, best known for co-founding the Raleigh cellphone tower company TowerCo in 2004, is asking $11.4 million for his oceanfront Wrightsville Beach retreat. Should the property sell for even close to the list price, it would set a record for the neighborhood.
Oceanfront Good Deal Real Estate in North Carolina
Byrne spent $2.6 million for a real estate oceanfront on South Lumina Drive in 2017, according to the Charlotte Business Journal, which broke the news of the sale. Byrne then hired Murray Construction’s Jim Murray and architect Cothran Harris to design and build a custom home in the Hamptons.
The 2020-completed cedar-shingled home has eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and approximately 7,000 square feet of elegant and relaxed living space. Reclaimed wood floors, opulent designer lighting, and glass walls provide expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean.
A two-car garage with room for up to four automobiles, four HVAC systems with seven zones, an automated watering system, and an elevator to all three levels are among the notable facilities. A guest suite with a separate bedroom, bathroom, and living space is built on top of an additional garage used to store beach-related supplies.

The remaining bedrooms and another living room are located on the middle floor, while a game room that opens to a covered patio is the highlight of the lower level. The backyard features a large grassy lawn with a gas fire pit and exclusive access to 80 feet of oceanfront.
During his 14-year tenure, Byrne, who departed in 2018, built a business that allowed TowerCo to set up four distinct holding companies, each of which was sold for a different price. The next two LLCs were traded for about $550 million, whereas the first two were worth almost $1.7 billion. Around 80% of the company was owned by Tailwind and Soros Capital, with the remaining 20% by Byrne, his associates, and TowerCo employees
According to CBJ, Byrne is relocating as a result of record-breaking home sales in the Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach area. It’s a fantastic time to sell, he declared. Additionally, we are beginning some lifestyle changes that have prompted us to list the house for sale.
Jessica Pirone and Rebecca Dawson of the Full Circle Group are the owners of the listing at Nest Realty.
