The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Inaccurate Information

According to Knewz, a group of doctors claim that the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contains false information on the safety of masks.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are allegedly withholding other data that contradicts the mask story while promoting incorrect data, according to a letter written by renowned epidemiologist Mihcael Osterholm and seven of his colleagues.

The doctors claim that the “Masks and Face Covering for the Public” section of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website is heavily based on “a highly questionable and misleading” commentary written by Monica Gandhi, Chris Beyrer, and Eric Goosby and published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine.

The letter warned the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

As per the report of Epoch Health, the letter warned the Centers for Disease Control that falsifying information on reputable websites like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network—a website jointly developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA)—would “damage the credibility of science,” put the public at risk by “misrepresenting the evidence,” and give the public “false expectations” that masking would protect them from the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.

“We believe the information and recommendations as provided may actually put an individual at increased risk of becoming infected with SARS-CoV-2 and for them to experience a serious or even life-threatening infection,” Mr. Osterhom stated in his letter.

The authors recommended the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reevaluate its claims about the “efficacy of masks and face coverings for preventing transmission of SARS-CoV-2” and requested the IDSA remove any references to masking as a preventative measure from its website.
