The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed resentencing of Allan Martin Jr. convicted of murder on Thursday. Allan Martin Jr. pleaded guilty to first-degree felony murder and carrying a firearm in 1997 after he killed the owner of a Benton Township gun shop.

Murder In 1997

SOURCE– The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed resentencing of Allan Martin Jr. convicted of murder after killing the owner of a Benton Township gun shop when he was 17. Allan Martin Jr. pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and carrying a firearm in 1997 when he killed the owner of a Benton Township gun shop.

Allan Martin Jr. was resentenced to 40 to 70 years in prison. But, Allan Martin Jr. said that the Michigan Court abused its discretion in resentencing him. Allan Martin Jr. argued that they used his criminal record leading up to his conviction and ran afoul when using the defendant’s criminal activity during his youth as an aggravating factor.

According to the Michigan Court, Allan Martin Jr. has a good and bad behavior cycle. Allan Martin Jr. was involved with the Latin Kings gang. The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed resentencing 40 to 70 years to Allan Martin Jr. on August 10,  after he killed the owner of a Benton Township gun shop.
