Venezuelan asylum seeker accused of raping a woman in front of a 3-year-old child in their Cheektowaga hotel on August 2. He was charged with first-degree rape, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a child, and second-degree harassment.
Asylum Seeker Arrested With Four Charges
A 26-year-old Jesus Guzman-Bermudez allegedly sexually assaulted his girlfriend in front of their 3-year-old child at a hotel. According to the source, the woman reported the assault to their immigration case worker. Now, the 26-year-old asylum seeker facing four charges.
According to County District Attorney John Flynn, the woman was raped many times and they are not sure if the two are married or a couple. But, they are sure that the two are in a relationship because they have a child. But even though they are a couple or married it was still raped.
A Venezuelan asylum seeker is being held without bail and faces a maximum of 25 years in prison if convicted. After his punishment for doing a criminal activity, he will be deported back to his country said Mark Poloncarz the Erie County Executive. According to Attorney Flynn, there are 570 migrants who have been accepted and only 4 who have been arrested for criminal activity.
