What are SNAP and Eligibility Requirements?

Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP) is a federal program previously called food stamps. This program helps low-income households provide food-purchasing assistance.

Households have to meet requirements such as gross and net income limits, resource limits, and work requirements to be eligible for the federal program.

Highest Income Limits for SNAP Beneficiaries

Yahoo! Finance has reported that the USDA has announced that SNAP allotments will significantly increase in 48 states, D.C., Hawaii, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Alaska.

Families of 4 in the 48 states and D.C. will now receive up to $939, while Alaska’s allotment ranges from $1,172 to $1,819, Hawaii gets $1,794, Guam with $1,385, and the U.S. Virgin Islands with $1,208. It is also stated that the minimum benefit will also increase in all areas.

This news provides relief for families who depend on SNAP benefits and reflects the government’s efforts to improve the lives of the citizens.
