According to the report of AP News, a suspect named Deion Patterson was charged on Thursday by a grand jury in Fulton County with the Midtown shooting of May 3. A few hours later, in Cobb County, to the northwest of Atlanta, he was apprehended. Amy St. Pierre, 38, was pronounced dead on the spot. Patterson is charged with both murder and criminal murder about her passing. He faces one count each of attempting to murder Jazzmin Daniel, Lisa Glynn, Alesha Hollinger, and Georgette Whitlow.
According to a statement issued by the organization on Tuesday, Mr. Patterson, a veteran who has a history of mental health issues, is assumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. His defense team is working around the clock on his behalf and anticipates providing needed information.
In connection with that incident, Patterson is also charged with five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, three counts of attempted assault, and one count of having an illegal firearm while committing a felony. The indictment lists one count each of theft by taking second-degree criminal property damage after authorities allege that Patterson stole a pickup truck that he used to flee in and shot at another vehicle.
