The 38-year-old employee of Social Security was arrested last Tuesday after creating fake profiles of two children and using them to fill out a survivor benefits application. Also, he used the debit cards issued to the two children to withdraw funds.
A Theft Inside Social Security Arrested
Last Tuesday an arrest was made for 38-year-old Lee Marvin Nichols, who works as a claims specialist in Social Security. He was accused of stealing security benefits by creating fake profiles of two children by stating they were the children of a deceased man and a disabled woman who currently lived in Mexico.
According to a statement from prosecutors, Lee Marvin Nichols used the fake profiles to fill out a survivor benefits application and used the debit cards issued to withdraw funds by disguising himself with hats, sunglasses, masks, and other clothing. The authorities don’t give information about how much money was stolen.
Social Security employee Lee Marvin Nichols was charged with theft of government property and two counts of aggravated identity theft. Right now, Lee Marvin Nichols is in federal custody and expected to make an initial appearance Friday afternoon around 1:15. As of now, no further information about the stealing of social security benefits.
