A Kentucky mother Erica Lawson was arrested last Sunday after her 17-month-old toddler died from injuries both physical and sexual abuse.
Don’t Ignore Abuse!
Erica Lawson a 21-year-old was arrested and faced multiple charges. According to Attorney Fugate, the toddler showed signs of both physical and sexual abuse when the toddler was admitted to the hospital last July 28, but the toddler suffered severe injuries for her to recover. The toddler has been raped and beaten and suffered brain-dead by the time she died, according to Andrea Vacchiano.
The Middlesboro Police Department started an investigation and interviewed the mother Erica Lawson, arrested on Sunday and was transported to Bell County Detention Center and held on a $1,000,000 bond. The news shocked everyone and raised concerns about child abuse. Child Abuse is a serious crime in any form like physical, sexual, emotional, and neglect that we should not ignore.
If ever we recognized signs of abuse we should immediately report it to the authorities for us to save the life and prevent further harm to the victim. So in order to prevent this kind of incident we should be alert in our surroundings and campaign awareness can help to raise awareness if ever there is a sign of abuse. The investigations of this case are still ongoing to gather more evidence and bring justice to the 17-month-old toddler.
