Under a new law being promoted by House Republicans, fetuses would be eligible for the child tax credit.
Federal Extension Benefit of Child Tax Credit to Include Unborn Child
The Providing for Life Act was proposed last week by Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa), who wants to extend the federal benefit to include parents when they are pregnant. “Providing for your child begins the second a woman finds out she is pregnant,” Hinson told The Post on Monday. Which includes booking doctor’s appointments, stocking up on diapers, and looking for child careIncreasing tax relief for working parents will promote the development and success of new families. “The Child Tax Credit should be expanded to cover the unborn child inside a mother’s womb.
According to the published articleof New York Post, last January, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) proposed a counterpart bill in the House of Representatives. The increased child tax credit that is being considered would provide working parents up to $4,500 if their children are under the age of five and $3,500 if they are six to seventeen years old.

Other Child Tax Credit Benefits to Enjoy as a Pregnant Mom
The credit would also be available to parents for any unborn children for the year before the child’s birth. Benefits are available to people and households making up to $400,000 and $200,000, respectively. Regardless of age, the current child tax credit provides $2,000 for each dependent.
Other provisions in the bill would fund pregnancy resource centers and give women access to information about abortion alternatives on college campuses and in places of worship, as well as improved paid parental leave coverage and employment opportunities for parents who are paying child support.
Democratic opposition to public funding of such programs has been strong since the US Supreme Court invalidated Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that guaranteed federal protection for abortion, last year, so the proposed legislation is certain to spark controversy.
Supporting expected moms and their unborn children is crucial, according to Rubio, not just because it is the moral thing to do but also because the future greatness of America depends on it. “The needy parents and kids in America will receive genuine support thanks to this comprehensive legislation. To convince America that conservatives support life in all its forms, we need policies like these, the senator argued.
As part of President Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus package in 2021, congressional Democrats backed an enhanced child tax credit; however, they have not yet renewed the law.
