Ten years in prison were handed down to a Massachusetts man who attempted to hire a hitman to kill his wife after she requested a restraining order.
Prosecution on Murder-For-Hire Charge to Marenghi
Federal prosecutors stated that the term given to Massimo Marenghi, 57 years old last Monday in federal court in Boston was the highest permitted by the sentencing guidelines. In a released report by AP News, the way Marenghi acted was “despicable,” according to the U.S. In a statement, attorney Joshua Levy stated. He claimed that the prosecution’s major argument against Mr. Marenghi was that he wanted to perpetrate the most severe kind of domestic abuse by plotting to have his wife killed.
When someone contacted law enforcement and reported that Marenghi had complained about the restraining order and requested assistance in killing his wife, authorities started looking into the case in January 2021, according to the prosecution.
Federal investigators gave that person the order to introduce Marenghi to a covert agent posing as a contract killer. The Malden man flew to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to meet with the agent. They talked about a $10,000 fee, the Malden man showed the agent a picture of his wife’s home, and the Malden man showed the agent how to get around security cameras. He gave the agent a $1,500 deposit, his wife’s picture, information about her automobile, and her work schedule at a subsequent appointment. A charge of murder for hire, Marenghi entered a guilty plea in March.
