The accused of the armed Carjacking of a preacher handling water bottles to the homeless that transpired two years ago has finally pleaded guilty.
Carjacking Case in Minneapolis
A Minneapolis man, known as Dwight Keith Eaglehawk, a 34-year-old man, has pleaded guilty to an armed carjacking of a preacher nearly two years ago, announced U.S. Attorney M. Luger.
As indicated in the court documents on August 1, 2021, while the preacher was handing bottles to the homeless, Dwight Keith Eaglehawk approached the victim in a parking lot near Lake Street in south Minneapolis. He requested two bottles of water from the victim before pulling out a Marlin .22 rifle and demanding the keys to the preacher’s Dodge Dart vehicle. Eaglehawk then fled the scene after taking the car keys of the preacher.
This felonious act made Eaglehawk plead guilty on July 20, 2023, in U.S. District Court before Senior Judge Ann D. Montgomery to one count of carjacking. The U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced this news on Friday, July 21, and added that a sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later time.
The result of this case was conducted by the FBI along with the Minneapolis Police Department. In addition, the ones prosecuting the case are Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan B. Gilead and David P. Steinkamp.
