Tuesday night after a shooting, one person was taken to the hospital with unidentified injuries, according to the Norman Police Department.

On the report published by The Norman Transcript, around 4:50 p.m., Norman Police Department officers received a call reporting the shooting incident near the W/W intersection of Willoway Drive and Main Street. Authorities respond immediately to the incident area. According to the preliminary inquiry, two people were operating automobiles on W. Main Street as it headed west. They were stopped in the middle of Main Street when a fight broke out. One of the parties pulled out a gun during the argument, and at least one shot was fired, hitting the other party.
As to the initial reports of NPD in a Facebook post, one person was detained after the incident, and the investigation is still underway. While responding to the site, police blocked down W Main St between 36th and 48th Ave SW.
Officers arrived on the scene and found a male adult lying in the road with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Officers and bystanders started helping right away. The adult male was taken to a nearby hospital, where he eventually passed away as a result of the incident’s injuries.
The shooter, later identified as 62-year-old Mark Kottka, shot the other adult male.
