On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, around 4:20 p.m., gunfire erupted in the 500 block of West Houston in Highlands, East Harris County, leaving an adult male and an adult female hospitalized.
The male victim was seated in his vehicle in a driveway when a dark-colored car approached. Occupants of the vehicle opened fire, striking the man. The female victim, who was standing in the front doorway of the home, was also hit by gunfire. Both were airlifted to a local hospital via Life Flight and are being treated for their injuries.
Inside the home during the shooting were two children, ages 5 and 7, who were unharmed.
Earlier that day, a vehicle parked in front of the same residence was deliberately set on fire. The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the arson incident.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Division is investigating both incidents. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and gathering evidence from the area.
