WPBN: According to the authorities, two individuals who were referred to as “porch pirates” were taken into custody on Monday, exactly one month after a package was taken from the front of a residence located in South Miami.
Their arrest papers indicate that the theft took place in the 6900 block of Southwest 63rd Avenue at approximately 1:30 in the am on December 6th.
A neighbor of the victim’s was the one who discovered her empty parcel the following morning and brought it to her, according to the police.
After that, the victim went back and watched the security footage she had taken, and she observed a woman hop back into the passenger seat of a black Ford Mustang after stealing the package from the front porch of her house.
Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers received a tip that recognized the burglar as Leydis Vega after the surveillance video of the thief was shown on local news sources.
During the course of the investigation, the police discovered her on social media and discovered that she had posted images of herself wearing hair bows that were identical to the ones she was wearing at the time of the theft.
Police stated that the address that was shown on her driver’s license was the same address that was given on her ex-husband’s driver’s license.
Vega was identified as the one shown in the video, according to the authorities, who stated that they had a conversation with her ex-husband when they went to the residence on December 17th.
“You are correct, I have already watched the news station. His statement to the police was that “it’s her,” as stated in the report.
According to the police, Vega, who is thirty years old and hails from Hialeah, handed herself in to the authorities on Monday and was taken into custody on counts of burglary and petit theft.
