Marquette, MI – Residents across Upper Michigan are urged to prepare for hazardous driving conditions tonight due to freezing drizzle and dense fog. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Dense Fog Advisory covering central sections of the Upper Peninsula (U.P.), particularly areas inland from the Great Lakes.
According to the NWS, freezing drizzle is likely, especially on untreated roads and elevated surfaces. Temperatures are expected to hover between 30 and 36 degrees, creating a risk of icy glaze formation. Snow-covered terrain near the Great Lakes could also worsen visibility.
Motorists should exercise extreme caution, use low-beam headlights, and allow for extra travel time. Officials recommend avoiding travel in fog-heavy areas if possible. The advisory remains in effect through early Friday morning.
Residents are advised to stay updated on road conditions and weather developments. Live traffic updates are available via Michigan’s MDOT webcams and local emergency channels.
Stay safe and take precautions if traveling tonight. For ongoing updates, follow the National Weather Service Marquette on social media.
