Denver, CO – Light snow showers and slick roads are expected across Colorado into Thursday, with travel impacts likely in higher elevations. The San Juan Mountains and Denver’s foothills could see light snow accumulations, creating challenges for post-Christmas travelers.
According to the National Weather Service, light snow showers will become widespread in the mountains this evening before tapering off. Areas southwest of Denver could receive up to 4 inches of snow late today, while lower elevations, including Denver, may experience snow showers mixed with rain. Minimal accumulation is expected in lower areas.
Mountain passes such as I-70 and US-285 will likely see hazardous conditions with icy spots and reduced visibility through late Thursday. Drivers are urged to check road conditions before travel and keep emergency kits in their vehicles.
The extended forecast suggests a mix of rain and snow Thursday night transitioning to clearer skies Friday. However, temperatures will remain cold, with highs around 50°F and lows near freezing. A slight chance of rain and snow returns Saturday, with another round of clearer skies expected Sunday, bringing highs near 60°F.
Those planning outdoor activities or road trips should monitor updates and prepare for sudden changes in weather conditions.
