A couple in Phatthalung, a province in southern Thailand near the Malaysian border, has been left mystified after discovering strange black objects in their garden following a lightning storm. The unidentified items, which they believe fell from the sky, have sparked intrigue among locals and fueled speculation about their origin and potential benefits.
Wichet Siriphuwadon and his wife, Maneerat, recounted how a powerful lightning storm rocked their palm plantation one night, leaving behind burn marks and fallen trees. “There was very heavy rain and lightning around 2 a.m. on that day, causing a fire outside,” Wichet said.
The next morning, he noticed smoke rising from a pit near the burn marks and covered it with soil. Two weeks later, curiosity led the couple to revisit the area. To their surprise, they found shiny black rocks of varying sizes weighing more than 44 pounds (20 kilograms).
“The rocks changed our lives,” says couple
The couple took the rocks home, hoping officials could analyze them. Maneerat noted that the rocks were sharp, even causing her to bleed while collecting them. However, she described a strange sensation: “Despite feeling pain and heat at the time, the discomfort stopped once the bleeding ceased.”
Over the course of a month, Maneerat claimed to have experienced a boost in her physical and mental well-being, attributing the improvements to the presence of the mysterious objects in their home. “I feel more energetic and mentally clear,” she shared.
Neighbors see luck in the enigmatic rocks
The discovery has captivated the couple’s neighbors, some of whom believe the unusual patterns on the rocks hold hidden meanings. Residents have even interpreted these markings as lucky numbers, which they plan to use for upcoming lottery draws.
A quest for answers
While the origin of the objects remains unknown, Maneerat has urged authorities to examine them further. The discovery has also highlighted the dramatic weather patterns in Thailand, including frequent lightning storms and monsoon winds, which could offer clues to the rock’s origin.
What scientists say about such phenomena
Though rare, incidents involving unidentified objects falling during storms have been reported globally. Experts often attribute such occurrences to meteorites or debris from space. However, without proper analysis, the true nature of the Phatthalung rocks remains speculative.
For now, the rocks continue to spark curiosity and hope in the community, with Maneerat embracing their potential impact. “Whatever they are, they’ve already brought a sense of wonder to our lives,” she said.
