Miami, FL — Scattered showers will develop across South Florida this Christmas afternoon, potentially affecting post-holiday travel through Thursday.

Forecasters predict high temperatures nearing 78 degrees with a 38% chance of rain in Miami, Homestead, and surrounding areas today. Afternoon and evening showers may impact heavily traveled routes, including I-95 and the Dolphin Expressway, as many residents return home from holiday celebrations.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the rain chances will taper off slightly by Thursday, though a 30% chance of precipitation will remain. Thursday will see highs around 77 degrees and east winds reaching up to 14 mph, making for breezy conditions.

Looking ahead to the weekend, South Florida can expect partly sunny skies on Friday with a slight chance of showers during the afternoon. Highs will remain consistent at 78 degrees. Winds may gust up to 20 mph, bringing cooler temperatures in the evening with lows dipping to 73 degrees.

By Saturday, conditions will improve, with partly sunny skies and a minimal 20% chance of early morning showers. Highs will stay around 76 degrees, ideal for outdoor plans heading into the weekend.

Drivers are urged to use caution on wet roads today and monitor updates from local weather services. Travelers should plan ahead, as holiday traffic combined with occasional showers could cause delays on major roadways.
