Champaign, IL – A Christmas Eve shooting on Edgebrook Drive has left an 18-year-old Champaign man hospitalized with serious injuries. Police responded to the 500 block at 6:34 a.m. after a report of a man lying outside a residence.
Initially believed to have minor injuries, medical personnel discovered multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds on the man’s torso. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident began as an altercation inside the victim’s home involving acquaintances. Shots were fired, and the other individual fled before police arrived. Authorities are canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.
