Fort Worth, TX — A volatile weather pattern grips North Texas this Christmas Eve, bringing severe thunderstorm threats along major roadways, including I-35. Showers and storms are expected throughout the day, with risks of hail and damaging winds concentrated in the afternoon and evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, storms are moving slowly across the region, with the greatest threat of severe weather in areas south and east of Fort Worth from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Residents should remain vigilant as storms could develop quickly, potentially causing hazardous driving conditions. Drivers should exercise caution, especially on I-35 and surrounding highways, where heavy rain could reduce visibility.

On Christmas Day, the weather shifts to cloudy skies and patchy drizzle, especially near and east of I-35. Temperatures will stay seasonable, with highs in the mid-50s to mid-60s. Fort Worth will likely reach 61°F by the afternoon, while surrounding areas like Waco may peak at 64°F. Travel plans should factor in the potential for slick roads early in the day.

Looking ahead, Wednesday and Thursday bring mostly cloudy skies, with a slight chance of showers Thursday evening. Friday marks a return to sunny weather, with highs near 67°F, providing a welcome reprieve for weekend celebrations.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through local weather alerts and check road conditions before traveling. Plan accordingly for Christmas Eve storms and keep outdoor Christmas Day activities flexible due to the drizzle.
