Las Vegas, NV – High winds are expected to sweep across Las Vegas and western Nevada Tuesday, creating hazardous travel conditions. A wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service is in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Southwesterly gusts between 45-55 mph are forecast, with impacts including blowing dust, reduced visibility, and potential power outages. Key highways, such as US-95 and US-395, are likely to face dangerous crosswinds, especially near Tonopah and Owens Valley.
According to the National Weather Service, strong winds could extend eastward into Las Vegas Valley, disrupting commutes and creating risks for high-profile vehicles. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor objects, avoid unnecessary travel, and allow extra time on the road.
Drivers are urged to proceed cautiously, particularly in open areas where visibility may be reduced. Those in high-clearance or high-profile vehicles should avoid traveling if possible.
