Marquette, MI – After a cold start to the week, Marquette is set to enjoy sunny skies on Christmas Day with highs near 33°F. However, residents should prepare for a shift in conditions by Thursday evening as a warming trend brings rain showers and patchy fog across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, high-pressure conditions will keep Christmas Day dry and pleasant. Temperatures will climb into the low-to-mid 30s, which is well above seasonal norms. By Thursday, the weather will turn cloudy, with highs nearing 37°F. Rain chances increase late Thursday night into Friday, with showers likely to continue through the weekend.

The warming trend is expected to accelerate snowpack melting, creating the potential for localized patchy fog and slick roads. Travelers along US-41 and other key routes should remain cautious, particularly during early morning hours when visibility may be reduced.

Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday will stay unseasonably warm, with highs reaching the low 40s. Rain showers will dominate through Saturday night, making outdoor holiday plans challenging. Colder temperatures may return early next week, potentially bringing a mix of rain and snow.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and take precautions if traveling later this week. Keep an eye on road conditions and ensure proper vehicle preparation for reduced visibility.
