Columbia, SC – South Carolina residents can expect a pleasant Christmas Day with sunny skies and mild temperatures statewide. Decreasing clouds today set the stage for calm weather over the holiday, though rain may return later this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Christmas Day highs will reach near 58 degrees across Columbia, with similar conditions forecasted for Orangeburg and Augusta. Overnight lows are expected to dip into the mid-30s, so those traveling early should plan for brisk morning temperatures. Calm winds will make for ideal holiday gatherings.

Looking ahead, Wednesday night will bring partly cloudy skies with temperatures remaining steady near 35 degrees. Thursday continues the sunny trend, reaching 56 degrees before clouds increase by Friday. Highs will remain in the upper 50s through the workweek.

Rain chances develop Saturday as a frontal system moves through the area, bringing a 30% chance of showers during the day. By Sunday, the probability rises to 60%, with steady rainfall expected. Highs could reach 68 degrees before cooler air returns Sunday night.

For safe travels during the holiday season, keep an eye on weather updates, particularly as rain moves into the region. With calm weather expected through the week, South Carolinians should enjoy clear conditions for outdoor holiday plans.
