Thomas Van Nguyen, 62, of Garland, was found guilty on November 22, 2024, on two counts of child sexual abuse: Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child – Sexual Contact.
Court records indicate that the Grand Jury of Dallas County indicted Nguyen for an incident that occurred on or about June 12, 2021. He was accused of engaging in sexual contact with a child with the intent to arouse and gratify himself.
Following the indictment, Garland Police officers arrested Nguyen at his residence in the 6700 block of Flarity Ln. This arrest stemmed from a warrant issued for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child: Victim Under 14 – Family Violence, related to an incident that occurred starting in 2009.
The investigation revealed two victims, both family members of Nguyen. The exact relationship was not disclosed by authorities.
Nguyen was sentenced to 8 years for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and 4 years for Indecency with a Child – Sexual Contact. The sentences will run concurrently.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kalle Riner and Ward Weber. DA Investigator Laura Brakefield and DA Victim Advocate Leslie Gutierrez assisted in the prosecution.
