On January 3, 2025, the Brazoria County Narcotics Task Force, in collaboration with the Brazoria County Special Response Team and the Southern Brazoria County SWAT Team, executed search warrants at two locations: the 200 block of North Avenue C in Freeport and the 100 block of Loganberry Street in Lake Jackson.
The searches concluded a four-month investigation into narcotics distribution. Law enforcement recovered approximately 600 grams of cocaine, 1,900 grams of Alprazolam (Xanax), 600 grams of THC oil, 200 grams of marijuana, and nearly 475 grams of Promethazine, with a combined estimated street value of $54,000. Officers also seized two firearms, one of which had been reported stolen by the Houston Police Department.
At the Loganberry Street residence, authorities arrested 24-year-old Mariah Mata of Lake Jackson. She faces multiple charges, including manufacture and delivery of controlled substances, possession of controlled substances, and theft of a firearm. Mata’s bond was set at $935,000, and further charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
