St. Louis, MO – Missouri residents are urged to prepare for worsening travel conditions as a winter storm intensifies Sunday evening. A wintry mix is expected to bring snowfall, causing up to 4 inches of snowfall by Monday morning, with wind speeds in excess of 30 mph.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis, the heaviest snowfall is likely to occur overnight, especially north of Interstate 70. Visibility will be severely reduced in many areas due to the icy winds, creating near blizzard conditions. Authorities issued a strict advisory against non-essential travel early Monday.
Temperatures will drop rapidly overnight to a low of 19°F, and icy road conditions are likely by the morning commute. The forecast for Monday is cooler, with a high near 25°F and a wind chill that will make it feel even colder.
Looking ahead, northern Missouri and western Illinois will experience bitter cold throughout the week. Tuesday will be mostly sunny but cold with a high of 23°F. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits and reach near 7°F. By Wednesday, skies will remain clear, but daytime highs will not rise above 21°F.
