Interstates including I-70 and I-44 remain dangerous, with road crews working around the clock to clear roads. Low temperatures slow down cleanup efforts, making salt and other treatments less effective.
The agency advises residents to stay home on Monday as conditions are expected to remain dangerous. Passengers who require updates can travel Traveller.modot.org Road conditions and closures in real time.
MoDOT emphasizes that even cleared roads can be slippery. A MoDOT spokesperson said, “If you must drive, drive carefully.”
Residents are encouraged to stock up on emergency kits, monitor weather updates and avoid unnecessary trips. With temperatures expected to remain below zero, conditions are unlikely to improve quickly.
