Winter weather advisory Friday, Saturday for WA Cascades


SeattleRounds of rain will push through western Washington Thursday through Saturday, bringing breezy wind at times.

Scattered showers will continue Thursday, but the day looks more dry than wet. High temperatures will remain cool, in the mid 40s.

If you’re planning to travel over the mountains, a winter weather advisory has been issued Friday and Saturday for the Washington Cascades.

Widespread rain to push into western Washington early Friday

Later Thursday evening and into early Friday morning, widespread rain will push into western Washington from the south.

Starting around midnight, breezy winds will push through the Cascade gaps into the western foothills. A half-inch of rain is possible for the Puget Sound lowlands, but winds will remain much calmer for most spots away from the foothills.

Snow levels climb on Friday

Snow levels will climb to above 3,500 feet on Friday, but we could see a cold enough layer at the surface to produce freezing rain over Snoqualmie Pass at times Friday. FOX 13 Seattle meteorologists will keep a close eye on that.

A dry stretch on the horizon

After the weekend showers, we should get a break from the rain starting next week.

Models are hinting at a long dry stretch through the middle of January.
