Tracking winter storm that’s expected to bring mixed precipitation

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – Good morning heartland and happy Saturday heartland. Today will be cold with partly cloudy skies, and highs in the mid 30s. Tomorrow will be a First Alert Action Day as we are still tracking a significant winter event for Sunday into Monday. Mixed precipitation could start as early as 1 am Sunday and then will pick up intensity through the morning. All types of winter weather will be possible tomorrow. Expect to see snow, for our northern counties, and then freezing rain and sleet for our more southern counties. A Winter Storm Warning, Ice Storm Warning, and Winter Weather Advisory have all been issued for tomorrow into Monday. Damaging ice impacts are likely and will lead to travel issues and the possibility of power outages.

Monday morning, we are tracking some lingering snow pushing in from the Northwest. Behind this winter storm, expect another cold system Monday through the entire work week. Highs are expected to stay below freezing.
