***Winter Weather Advisory for Holt, Antelope, Stanton, Platte, Pierce, and Knox Counties in northeast Nebraska until 6pm Sunday***
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – A chilly day will end with a bitterly cold night, along with snow moving into the area.
Tonight, the heaviest snow will fall in northeast Nebraska where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 6pm Sunday from Stanton County, Pierce County, Knox County, and points to the west. Holt County could see the highest snowfall totals, ranging from 3 to 6 inches. That number declines as you move eastward. West of I-29 could see 1 to 3 inches of snow, while east of I-29 might not receive any or potentially up to an inch. The breezy conditions could reduce visibility significantly while the snow is coming down and it will make our wind chill values fall well below zero. Overnight lows are in the mid to upper single digits, but wind chills could be as low as 15 below zero.
Flurries could linger into the morning hours, but otherwise the day will be mostly cloudy. Highs will be in the mid-teens, but wind chills could range into the lower single digits and fall below zero at times.
Overnight lows heading into Monday will sit around 0. Again, wind chill values will fall below zero.
Monday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid-teens.
Monday night, temperatures will fall into the lower single digits, keeping the mostly cloudy conditions around. It will be another night of subzero wind chills.
We will see a bit of clearing Tuesday afternoon. Highs will be in the mid to upper teens,
Overnight lows will drop below zero Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, making wind chills even more bitterly cold.
Wednesday, temperatures start to pick up a hair, getting into the upper teens and lower 20s.
We make it into the mid to upper 20s on Thursday.
