STATE COLLEGE, PA – A winter storm warning is in effect for central Pennsylvania, with travel impacts expected due to heavy snowfall starting tonight. Forecasts indicate that Bedford, Fulton and Somerset counties will receive between 5 and 8 inches of snow, creating hazardous conditions through Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning begins at 10 p.m. tonight and continues until midnight Monday. Due to the dangerous condition of the road, there is a possibility of traffic disruption both in the morning and evening. Drivers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and keep an emergency kit including food, water and torch in their vehicles.

Snowfall will begin late tonight and intensify early Monday, reducing visibility and slick roads. PennDOT crews are prepared to address major highways like Route 30 and I-99, but secondary roads may remain dangerous.

Temperatures are expected to be around 30, with wind gusts reaching 20 mph, causing snow and travel complications. As the storm clears late Monday night, a blast of cold air will arrive, causing icy conditions to persist for several days.

Residents in Adams and Franklin counties should also prepare for up to 7 inches of snowfall, as conditions will worsen around midnight tonight. Updates on road conditions can be obtained by calling 511 or visiting PennDOT’s website.

Stay indoors if possible and keep an eye on local forecasts for updates as the storm progresses.
