MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – A New York man has been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the October 2024 death of 35-year-old Kuldeep Kumar, whose body was found in the Greenwood Wildlife Management Area.
Sandeep Kumar, 34, of South Ozone Park, New York, was arrested Wednesday and remains in custody pending a detention hearing, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Kumar is accused of working with four Indiana men already charged in the case: Saurav Kumar, 23; Gaurav Singh, 27; Nirmal Singh, 30; and Gurdeep Singh, 22, all of Greenwood, Indiana.
The investigation began after Kuldeep Kumar was reported missing in October 2024. His body was found on December 14 in a state of extreme decomposition, which was later identified through FBI assistance. The Ocean County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
The four Indiana suspects were captured in December and are awaiting extradition to New Jersey. Prosecutor Billhimer praised the cooperation of local, state and federal law enforcement in the case, which involved agencies from multiple jurisdictions.
Authorities stress that the charges remain allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
