The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for areas in Colorado, including Grand County. The advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, in areas above 9,000 feet, including Rocky Mountain National Park.
Snow accumulations are expected to range from 4-10 inches with winds gusting up to 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Travel impacts are expected as a result, particularly over mountain passes.
For lower elevations in Grand County, the National Weather Service is forecasting less than a half-inch of snow Saturday and less than a half-inch Saturday night. Snow remains likely again Sunday, with accumulation of less than a half-inch expected.
In tandem with the storm, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center has issued an avalanche advisory, which is in effect through 5 p.m. Sunday.
